POSH: Kadar Shah's house in Shah Alam that was reportedly broken into by seven parang-wielding men recently

POLICE are puzzled over the whereabouts of the "negotiator" who helped in the dramatic escape of Indonesian Manohara Odelia Pinot, 17, from her husband Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Sultan Ismail Petra, 32, the Tengku Temenggong of Kelantan.

Umno Muar division chief Datuk Kadar Shah Sulaiman Ninam Shah is being sought by police to assist in investigations into a recent robbery-gang rape at his Shah Alam bungalow.

Kadar Shah was reportedly in Jakarta on June 21 when the crime occurred and a source told Malay Mail he is now in Los Angeles.

The apparent reluctance of Kadar Shah to return home to deal with this serious matter has heightened concerns.

Selangor police chief DCP Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said yesterday: "We are baffled why he has not come to assist with investigations."

He said efforts to contact him have been in vain.

Khalid said police have not ascertained what was taken from Kadar Shah's home in the robbery. He asked Kadar Shah to contact the police immediately, and declined further comment.

At least seven parang-wielding men reportedly broke into Kadar Shah's bungalow at Greenville, S.A.A.S Golf Club in Shah Alam, in the early hours of June 21.

His maid claimed she was gang raped, but there were discrepancies in her police statement.

Police have not ruled out the possibility that she could have aided the robbers to enter the home.

Sources said it was strange that Kadar Shah had not returned home immediately to look into the welfare of his maid or to determine loss of valuables.

Our attempts to get him on his handphone were futile.

A twist was added to his absence from the country yesterday - his bungalow is about to be sealed by a court order following a bad loan case.

Malay Mail understands a KL legal firm is about to execute a writ of seizure on the property.

Kadar Shah had been ordered by the court to settle close to RM500,000 of a RM1 million loan he had taken from an individual. His appeal had been rejected and a stay refused.

Meanwhile, a source said the Kelantan palace is unhappy with Kadar Shah for alleging that he had been given the blessings of the royal household to help Manohara escape on June 1.

"His claim of having got the blessings of the Kelantan palace is baseless," the source said.

Well-travelled businessman with interests in oil, gas

DATUK Kadar Shah Sulaiman Ninam Shah is a businessman in oil and gas. A widely travelled man, he has been to most parts of the world, either seeking new ventures or sightseeing.

He is the eldest son of the late Tun Sulaiman Ninam Shah, who was permanent chairman of Umno for 36 years and president of the Senate.

An active Umno member, he is currently the Muar division chief, after winning in the divisional election last year.

He made headlines in Umno’s April election this year when he called for all delegates who have been declared bankrupt and the divisions they represented to stay out of the voting process.

When he was assured by the party secretary-general that all such delegates were barred from attending the election, he was still not satisfied.

He and Datuk Mazlan Harun, the son of former Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Harun Idris, lodged a report with the Registrar of Societies against Umno on the presence of bankrupts during the party election.

Both are now awaiting the Registrar’s report before filing their case in court.

Man in the middle of royal escape drama

DATUK Kadar Shah came into the limelight recently when he admitted to helping Manohara’s escape from Tengku Fakhry.

He claimed he stepped in as negotiator to solve the issue at the behest of the Kelantan palace.

The escape was planned from a hotel in Singapore and involved Singapore police.

The royal couple had gone to visit the Sultan who was recovering from a heart ailment at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital.

Manohara was reunited with her mother Daisy Farjana, and was whisked off to Jakarta.

The drama of royalty, beautiful teenage model, alleged kidnap stoked an explosion of media frenzy in recent months.

Manohara has filed for divorce, accusing her husband of physically abusing her, while her husband lodged a police report denying the allegations.
